The Mountain Bike Club in Les Angles was set up during the 2008/2009 winter season following on from the creation of the Bike Park in the summer of 2008. Its members are keen downhillers from the Capcir, and the purpose of the club is to promote downhill MTBing to youngsters in the region and organise events relating to downhill mountain biking.
Club membership fees include a season ticket for the Les Angles Bike Park and membership to the association itself.
In addition to this there is the obligatory FCC licence which varies in price depending upon the exact sport you do.
The highlights of summer 2013
Under the leadership of its new chairman, Frédéric Demichel, Mountain Bike Les Angles organised the 5th Mordoride, the last stage in the regional downhill MTB Cup. The many volunteers from the resort were present along the Mordor track in the Capcir Bike Park to make sure that everything went smoothly. After bad weather conditions on Saturday the competitors were greeted with more favourable conditions on Sunday despite the fact that there was quite a chill in the morning. In the afternoon the sun came out and the downhillers notched up better times.
The circuit is highly physical though it does include some technical sections, and it is laid out in an idyllic setting. In the first leg Charles Pujol (Brassac Lacaune VTT) beat the 2012 champion, Julien Piccolo (VTT AX Combes). But after technical problems he had to cede victory to Julien Piccolo, who is one of the best downhillers in France, and make do with second place in front of the Junior Dylan Levesque, from the Aveyron. Geoffrey Buisan (MB Les Angles), the talented all-rounder from the Roigo team, clocked up his best performance of the season, finishing 5th. After having competed in the last trial of the year Geoffrey is now going to concentrate on his studies but is getting ready for the 2014 season when the team will change its name to Team Mountain Bike Les Angles. His cousin Sylvain Buisan is still as impressive as ever and finished 10th overall and the best Cadet, rounding off an excellent year. The French Junior Women’s Champion, Viktoria Gimenez (MB Les Angles), performed excellently throughout the season and won the Women's category, whilst the talented young Hugo Frixtalon (MB Les Angles) won the Minimes category, and Logan Escach created quite a stir by coming 22nd overall and 7th in the Junior category. The club is clearly making progress year after year and the next generation of downhillers looks promising indeed.
