Many treasures are to be found in the wonderful 4116km² setting of the department of the Pyrénées Orientales - varied landscapes where each seems more beautiful than the last, wonderful architectural heritage, and local culture and traditions that are still very much alive today. And so when you come here MTBing you will have no excuse to find your stay repetitive in any way.
Thanks to the various MTB sites everybody will be able to find something to suit their skills and what they fancy, and dream up original circuits, discover little loops and daring descents, find routes taking in more than one valley or else set off for a long-distance cross-valley ride.
The Pyrénées Orientales rapidly emerged as a favourite destination for MTBers.
You can start on the coast before rapidly going up into the hills and then the mountains. Within less than 100 kilometres you climb from 0 metres to 2800 metres, a truly exceptional situation.
Come and discover the Capcir - Haut Conflent area lying in the heart of the Catalan Pyrenees Regional Nature Park, a destination to discover by bike.
This region includes Mont-Louis, the highest fortified town in France, the Capcir high altitude wooded plateau dotted with lakes, and the surprising steep valley of the Haut Conflent.
And then the nature, heritage, and culture sites to explore with your family do not preclude some of the tracks and trails being serious sporting fun.
The Capcir - Haut Conflent area is a FFVTT site.
